Tristan Katz

Tristan works on neglected areas within animal welfare, with a focus on wild animal welfare. He holds a PhD in Environmental Humanities from the University of Fribourg, where his research examined ethical problems surrounding compassionate intervention in nature, including how to integrate welfare concerns into conservation practice and how to manage uncertainty. Tristan has lectured in philosophy at the Universities of Fribourg and Basel, and previously served as an Ethics Advisor at the New Zealand Ministry of Health.
